Audition Overview

The audition process for students entering Santa Susana High School in the school of performing arts is an important and essential process.
All interested students can participate. The audition process is designed to place students in the class best suited to their technical and artistic level. Our teachers are as committed to nurturing existing talent as they are cultivating new skills. All students who wish to take an upper level performing arts course must audition.

Dance level 1, Theatre 1, Symphony Orchestra 1, Jazz Ensemble 1, and Entertainment Ensemble do not require an audition.
Students can audition for multiple different performing arts classes.
Hip Hop must be taken concurrently with another dance class.
Audition videos that students will be required to learn will be posted on this website on February 13th (Abbe Road videos will be posted February 3rd).
Technical Theatre interviews will be held on the audition day. Tech students should submit the audition form and select "Technical Theatre" as their department of choice.

Specific audition time slots will be posted on this website by February 23rd.
Students are strongly encouraged to bring a printed resume on their audition day.

Most auditions will take place on February 28th
Abbe Road auditions will be on February 17th
There will not be alternate audition dates.

New Students

Read through all required audition materials for the classes you are auditioning for.
Sign up for an audition
Rehearse and prepare all audition material
Wait to receive your exact audition time slot by February 23rd. It will be posted on this website.
Come to audition day with your resume and other materials (copies of monologues, music, etc.) as needed.

* Dance level 1, Dance for Musical, Theatre 1, Symphony Orchestra 1, Jazz Ensemble 1, and Entertainment Ensemble do not require an audition.
* Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to have adequate time to sign in and warm up.
* If you need to cancel your audition for any reason please email Mrs. Pinhey ASAP- [email protected].
* Signing up for an audition does not guarantee admission to the school.

Current Performing Arts Students

If needed, Sign up for an audition
Rehearse and prepare all audition material
Wait to receive your exact audition time slot by February 23rd. It will be posted on this website.
Come to audition day with your resume and other materials (copies of monologues, music, etc.) as needed.

*Current dance department students will be evaluated during class and do not need to sign up for an audition
*Current instrumental music department students will be evaluated during class and do not need to sign up for an audition.
*Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to have adequate time to sign in and warm up.
* If you need to cancel your audition for any reason please delete your time slot.
